Community Days: Scenic Geology – A conversation with Dale Leckie

We’re fortunate to have some of Alberta’s most scenic landscape accessible from the David Thompson Highway. Dr. Dale Leckie will be sharing the geological stories behind the mountains and canyons we love. Your questions are welcome!

Dale Leckie

Dale Leckie, Ph.D., is a geologist who worked at the Geological Survey of Canada and as chief geologist in a large Canadian energy company. He has edited numerous books and published widely on the geology of western Canada. He is an adjunct professor in the Geoscience Department at the University of Calgary. Dale is recognized for his long-term contributions to geology and is an honorary member of the Society for Sedimentary Geology (SEPM) and the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists (CSPG).

Dale’s books, Rocks, Ridges, and Rivers, and The Scenic Geology of Alberta are great resources for those exploring the province. Find out more about his books at brokenpoplars.ca.
