Local food at Edgar Farms

We'll be tasting our way through the Red Deer region on this tour, from asparagus and garden vegetables to berries and pies.

First we're heading to the fields, meeting local farmers that are renowned throughout the province. You'll get to see first hand what makes these producers and the region a popular destination for local food.

Then we're heading to the kitchen where we'll learn how to prepare those locally grown products. There will be plenty of tasting along the way...

This tour is offered in partnership with Tourism Red Deer and many of the region's best experience providers.

    Featured Experiences

    1. Edgar Farms

A member of Innisfail Growers, Edgar Farms is probably best known for their asparagus. The cool climate and soil conditions make for some of the most tender and flavorful asparagus you'll ever taste. Believe us, it's even better when you taste it right at the farm.

    2. Pearson's Berry Farm

Pearson's Berry Farm was the first commercial saskatoon berries orchard in the world. Today, in addition to growing berries they're a fixture at markets across the province selling pies, baked goods, juice concentrate and sauces made right there on the farm.

    3. The Jungle Farm

There's a lot to do at The Jungle Farm, from strawberry picking to festivals and events. Today we're getting our hands a little dirty, in the kitchen.

    4. The Cooking Room

After our country drive we're heading back to Red Deer for some fun in the kitchen. The team at The Cooking Room will show us how to put together a dish inspired by the farms we visited.

A Few More Things To Know

We get to play outside on our tours and that means you’ll want to come prepared for the weather. Make sure to dress in layers and come prepared for the unpredictable weather we often get in Alberta. We rarely cancel tours due to weather, as long as we can have a safe adventure. You’ll be amazed at how warm we get snowshoeing at -20C or how much fun hiking in the rain can be!
