The Whitegoat Lakes along David Thompson Highway
The tours we offer have changed a lot over the years. What hasn’t changed is why we do what we do.
Anybody can go hiking, snowshoeing or sightseeing. Our adventures go beyond that. They’re about getting lost in the moment when you visit a breathtaking place and the connections you make with others when sharing an adventure.

Our Purpose
Our goal is to inspire you to play outside and help you experience your adventure so that you can discover the culture, people and natural beauty of the region.
We believe that adventure is about doing things that are new and different for each of us, doing things that can be a little scary but that also makes us curious to explore further.
Our Approach
These are our guiding principles. Anything we do needs to meet these requirements to make it ours.
Get lost in the moment: Fun, shared experiences combined with breathtaking landscapes and amazing people create moments that naturally immerse us, making it easy to forget about daily life.
Simple is better: Life isn’t that complicated. Celebrate the simple pleasures, the raw beauty of nature and the connections with people you meet along the way.
Embrace the unexpected: Going on an adventure off the beaten path means that things are less structured. The best moments happen when you leave the checklist behind to create your own path.
Do the right thing: Caring for the environment and each other is not a trend, it’s part of living. Leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but pictures. Collect memories, not things.
Focus on the long term: Build relationships and memories that last. Taking the time to enjoy the journey will transform you.
What We Do
We’re an independent, locally-owned tour company established in 2010 and based in Nordegg, Alberta. We craft a variety of outstanding experiences that showcase our passion for the outdoors and our region.
We have five brands that work together to create those experiences for our guests.
Pursuit Adventures
Influenced by the outdoors and outdoor culture, we offer adventures throughout the western parts of David Thompson Country and beyond that showcase breathtaking places and amazing people. Whether it’s a winter sightseeing tour exploring the ice bubbles of Abraham Lake, sharing the stories that shaped the region or spending an evening snowshoeing under the stars, we’re here to help you experience your adventure.
This is our main brand uniting all our other brands and featuring their products whenever possible.
We currently offer a collection of scheduled tours as the Explorer Series, full and half-day private tours, and custom itineraries for individuals and groups.
Current product categories are guided hikes, sightseeing tours, guided snowshoe tours, photo tours and Abraham Lake ice walks along with gear rentals and activities offered by partners to create a complete itinerary for our guests.
Our relocation means that the river-based tours and the Inspired by Nature series are being re-worked as Nordegg based products to be offered in the near future. Farm and food tours will be reconsidered in the future as part of multi-day itineraries.
We’re always dreaming up new adventures. Any new tour with a sense of adventure that showcases at least two of: an outdoor activity, our destination’s natural beauty, our local culture and regional food is worth considering.
Explore Nordegg
It started in 2012 as Explore Central Alberta before re-branding in 2020 to reflect our focus on the Nordegg and Abraham Lake region.
It provides guests who are considering a guided tour with the additional information they need to feel comfortable booking their adventure in our region. It is also a resource for guests who prefer a self-guided adventure, allowing us to recommend this as an option to guests who would not be a great fit for a guided tour.
The site offers trail guides, activity guides, lodging guides and itineraries built for our ideal guests. It also includes information on the natural and human history of the area, built around the information our guides share on tours.
The brand generates revenue through advertising on the site, affiliate links and bookings for our tours and partner activities.
The Nordegg Provisions Co.
Food is part of all great adventures. It keeps us fuelled on the trail, helps us slow down to enjoy the moment over lunch, and gives us an excuse to get together and share the memories we’ve made along the way. The Nordegg Provisions Co. brand features some of our favourite outdoor-inspired food like handcrafted ice pops, marshmallows, graham crackers, hot chocolate, granola, soups, cabin meals and more.
Provisions started as the branding for our pre-packaged food products served on our tours. We will continue to offer our ice pops, hot chocolate mixes and soups while adding prepared meals and food boxes featuring regional producers for guests staying in the Nordegg area.
The goal is to offer food that fuels adventure and brings people together. Our guests like to eat healthily but also love to indulge as they celebrate their adventure. The prepared meals are designed to be simple to make, allowing the guests to spend most of their time playing outside. It is a convenient way for guests to plan their meals in a town with limited groceries and restaurant options.
The website also features recipes from our tours, the region, the Nordegg Canteen and inspired by the outdoors.
The Nordegg Canteen
Our new snack bar features fun food to celebrate adventures and our region, building on the tradition of our market carts and trail lunches. It follows the same philosophy as Provisions of balancing healthy options to take on the trail with more indulgent options to enjoy while celebrating afterward.
We’re taking a broad approach, testing different ideas to see what works for our guests and what we can make in our tiny kitchen in a remote town.
Crafting Outstanding Experiences
Our way of sharing some of the things we’ve learned along the way. The blog features behind-the-scenes stories on how we build adventures and is our way to help others develop memorable experiences for our guests to enjoy when they visit the region.
The website is primarily a way for us to organize ideas about operating an adventure company, experience development and guide training to share with our staff and partners. We decided to make this public, hoping that they can help others in the same way we benefit from brands sharing their experience.
Potential products include experience development and guide training, building on the Outdoor Council of Canada courses we currently offer.
